Cornetto Anyone?

Anyone fancy a Cornetto? We've got Strawberry, Original and Mint.
The Cornetto Trilogy. Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End. They are such a classic series of films that I just had to draw something about them. So here's my tribute. Simon Pegg, Edgar Wright and Nick Frost really did a great job with these parodies of their (and my) favourite movie genres. Its hard to pick a favourite out of them, and if you have one, I think its probably because you have a favourite type of movie that matches up. In fact, just thinking about which is my favourite is making me want to go and watch them all again. Just for research purposes obviously!

Anyway if you want to pay tribute  to your favourite (or maybe all of them?) you can get your hands on these designs at my DesignByHumans Store (Strawberry, Original and Mint) as well as the usual suspects, Redbubble (Strawberry, Original and Mint) and Society6 (Strawberry, Original and Mint). All the details are on the Doodle Dojo Store (Strawberry, Original and Mint).

You can also find some of my original sketches and some stickers and stuff on the Doodle Dojo Etsy Store. Sign up to my Newsletter to keep up with all the latest Doodle Dojo news.

Punch & Judy for Craft Guerrilla

Craft Guerrilla is a website and Zine based in East London. They organise craft events and support Artist Makers. Recently they asked if anyone would like to do any illustrations for their zine and so I offered my services. The theme was obviously summer, so I thought of a good old Punch and Judy show. Its a little old fashioned but still a very traditional sort of summery, beachy type of thing so I thought it would be perfect. Luckily they agreed and so my picture was chosen to be printed in their latest issue.

As this is for a craft Zine I thought I had better stay traditional and so I stuck to hand drawing with my trusty black pen for this one. The crocodile scenes are my favourite part of Punch and Judy so thats what I decided to draw. I really enjoyed doing all the little detail bits on the stage and getting the texture and shading just right.

The best bit though, was getting my copy of the zine and seeing my work in print. Especially when I saw that my drawing is opposite a recipe for a cocktail called the zombie. I'm definitely going to try that one out! You can get yourself a copy of the zine if you visit the Craft Guerrilla website and go the shopping page. They have it available as a downloadable PDF and of course you can have a paper copy mailed to you if you want.

Maori Mummified Head

Mummified Maori Head - Image from Reuters
This incredible mummified Maori head is being returned to New Zealand after a 136 year French holiday. The head was apparently given to a museum in Rouen in 1875 by a mysterious man called Drouet.

Not only does it look amazing but its got a mysterious story as well, how could it get any better! The tattoos on the face are incredible. It doesn't exactly look brand new but it certainly doesn't look over a century old.

Apparently these were kept as battle trophies. I don't think I would keep one for long though, those empty eye sockets would start to bore into you after a while. Can you imagine a zombie with that on top of his neck? Now that would be properly scary! Not one of those slow, shambling zombies either, this guy would be a full-on sprinter.

But it might make a pretty good picture, I can feel inspiration hitting me already! :D

Funky Skull

Funky Skull Button button
Funky Skull Button by DoodleDojo

The skull is a marvellous piece of biological engineering. Its lightweight. Provides holes for all the seeing, breathing, eating, speaking and listening we like to do. Gives you a way to keep your hair off the ground. And is strong enough to protect your brain from lots of painful things. But not a determined zombie of course.

Its also a symbol of death, horror and dark forces. And if you draw it just right, it looks awesome on t-shirts, hats, iphone cases and lots of other things!

Get one! You know you want to ;-)

Awesome Zombie Shirt

Awesome Zombie T-shirt shirt
Awesome Zombie T-shirt by DoodleDojo

Shotgun? Check! Knife? Check. Survival Rations? Check. Zombie busting t-shirt? Oh yeah!

Whatever your Z-day plan is, if you need to fend off attack by undead hordes you could always try and persuade them that you are one of the gang with this shirt. I'm almost certain that evil zombies would probably never eat the brains of a person wearing a top like this! They'll just ask you where you found it. And you'll send them here right?

If you don't like it in black there are plenty of other colours and styles available at the end of the link. Including ladies styles, badges, hats and loads of other stuff!
