Doodle Weapon

Doodling can be a dangerous game.
Bit of a different one for this week's post. As you probably know if you look at my blog regularly (there must be some of you right?) I post my designs under the name Doodle Dojo. I created a logo when I first started and used it for almost everything I could, that was nearly two years ago now. So I thought it was about time I made myself something new. I started having a bit of a think about how I could combine Doodling and Dojos in a simple visual way and it didn't take too long to come up with this. Doodling nunchukas. I was pleased enough with the result to post it up as a design in its own right.

Which means (of course!) that you can get hold of it on my Redbubble and Society6 stores (details on the Doodle Dojo Store as always). You will also see it as my avatar on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Google+, Deviant Art and everywhere else you can find me on the internet (once I get around to changing them all). So get used to seeing it. Today Blogger, tomorrow the world! (well possibly tomorrow, perhaps the day after.)

A quick PS as well. One of my designs, I can't mention which one yet, has been picked to appear on Anotherfinetee.com on the 24-25-26 of February. Which is obviously pretty cool for me! More info closer to the time.

Game of Jones

These things belong in a museum!
I might have mentioned that I'm an Indiana Jones fan before. If not then this is the time I mentioned it. Anyway, one day I was looking at a Game of Thrones design and there was an Indy picture further down the page when I noticed the rhyme. Of course that's not enough to suggest a design on its own, but when I started thinking about the iron throne itself I wondered what Indy would have made his out of. That's when I started trying to remember all the weapons and artefacts I could think of from the Indy films and realised that it might be worth a go. Several sketch pad pages and a fair bit of re-watching Indy later, this is what I came up with. I tried to include as many long, mostly pointy things as I could and I'm quite pleased with the final result.

It seems there are some other people out there who like it too, which is why this design has been picked up by Shirtpunch.com. So on Sunday, September 23rd this design will be on sale there for 24 hours only. Its only $10 on a T-shirt and they also do a great range of stickers, magnets, hoodies and other stuff too. So if the timing is right, go and check it out.

If you do happen to miss the sale don't worry. This design is also available at Redbubble and Society6 as usual, you can find all the details on the Doodle Dojo Store.

Battle Royale Class 3B Final Report

Battle Royale Class 3B Final Report
What do you do when you've finished watching Battle Royale? Well if you are me you start thinking 'that film was awesome, I want to make a design inspired by it!' Then of course you get carried away come up with an idea and start watching it again. Only this time you take notes on how everyone was killed and in what order and work up a nice poster based on the notes. So there it is, the final report of Class 3B, all 40 kills with the weapon that caused them.

Here's a little close up of the detail. I got carried away with the texture and stuff on this and had great fun getting it right. Not to mention the fun of watching the film again!

As usual this is available on all sorts of great stuff at Society6 and Redbubble. Get all the details over on the Doodle Dojo Store.

Horrible Weapons

Horrible weapons as used in some classic horror movies
Horror movies for me are all about the weapons. There are sharp ones, blunt ones and the more off the wall ones! So here is a selection of my favourites. If you had this little lot available I reckon you would be able to survive most zombie outbreaks without too much trouble.

Bonus points if you can name the films they come from too. In this case points don't win you prizes but you do get to be proud of your geekiness!

This is a slightly modified version of the design that I submitted to Threadless. Now that their 90 day period is over, you get to get your hands on it at the Doodle Dojo store instead. Click on through for more details.

In other exciting news (it is to me at least!) I have now started adding my doodles to Society6. So if you are in a helpful mood please feel free to take a look and click that promote button on anything that takes your fancy.

Horrible Weapons on Threadless

Horrible Weapons - Threadless, Best T-shirts Ever

So I've finally gone and got together a submission for Threadless. Their 'Threadless loves Horror III Challenge' was the prod I needed to get me going. Seemed to suit me perfectly, so off goes my first entry.

The basic idea is (obviously!) weapons from some of my favourite horror movies. As you can see I've got a fairly wide ranging selection going on. I reckon that  if you had this little list available, you would be able to survive until the end of most horror films. It makes for a nice little game of trying to name the film that they come from as well, which is always a bonus. I wanted to keep the colour palette nice and simple, partly because of the printing process and partly to keep everything visually linked. You are allowed a maximum of 8 colours but I managed to keep it down to 6.

I've been having a good look at some of the competition and there is some great stuff there. which means I need some votes to stand a chance. So click on the little thumbnail over there and give it some points, if you think it deserves some. This one can't go on any other sites for a while, so if you like the looks of it, you have to get over there and score it. As always its very much appreciated!
